The special prosecutor's request for the arrest of former President Yoon Suk Yeol has been rejected by the Seoul Central Court. It was filed in the context of an investigation into a failed attempt to declare martial law. Yoon is already involved in a criminal trial on insurrection charges and was previously arrested but later released on procedural grounds. The appointment of the special prosecutor took place after new President Lee Jae-myung took office.
