Marquez Christopher Pinder, an employee of the Secret Service in the USA, was arrested in Florida for attempted manslaughter by negligence, following an abusive initiation incident. Pinder, along with two accomplices, was charged with aggravated assault and submission to abusive initiation rituals.
The incident occurred in April, when the victims, including a law student, were beaten with batons and paddles, resulting in serious injuries, including renal failure for one of the victims. Pinder has been suspended from duty and is under house arrest, with total isolation, after the judge approved a bail of $75,000.
The Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity condemned the incident and stated that the perpetrators have no official ties to the organization.
