Saudi Arabia has declared the military attaché of Iran, his assistant, and three members of the embassy staff as persona non grata, demanding that they leave the kingdom within 24 hours.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry cited ongoing Iranian attacks on Saudi territory, which have included hundreds of rockets and drones since the start of the US-Israel conflict with Iran. Most of these attacks have been intercepted, but Saudi authorities warn that escalation will have "significant consequences" for bilateral relations.
The Saudi Foreign Minister emphasized that the kingdom reserves the right to take military action against Iran, stating that trust in Tehran has been destroyed.
Diplomatic relations between the two countries were restored in 2023, following efforts to ease regional tensions.
