Saudi Arabia and Qatar have signed a formal agreement to build a high-speed railway that will connect the capitals Riyadh and Doha, marking a significant step in improving bilateral relations. The project, signed by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, will include an electric railway linking King Salman International Airport in Riyadh to Hamad International Airport in Doha, with a speed of over 300 km/h and a travel time of approximately two hours.

It is estimated that the line will serve 10 million passengers annually and will create 30,000 jobs. This initiative comes after a period of tensions between the two states, which have been in conflict since 2017, but relations have significantly improved in recent years, culminating in this modern infrastructure project.
