Mark Rutte, the Secretary General of NATO, issued a serious warning regarding the defense commitments of member countries, emphasizing that without meeting the goal of allocating at least 5% of GDP for defense, Russia could become stronger than NATO in the coming years. In an interview with BBC Radio, Rutte also commented on Russian President Vladimir Putin's intentions to reclaim Ukrainian territories, labeling these aspirations as 'madness,' considering the human costs already borne by Russia.

He also discussed the summit in Berlin, where discussions were held regarding security guarantees for Ukraine. Rutte highlighted the role of a multinational force led by Europe in supporting the reconstruction of Ukrainian forces and ensuring air and maritime security. He stated that, in the event that security guarantees are established, Russia will no longer attempt to attack Ukraine, as NATO's response will be decisive. However, he emphasized that failing to meet defense spending commitments could have serious consequences for the stability of the alliance.
