At a press conference in Ankara, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated that he does not know how to convince Russian President Vladimir Putin to participate in peace negotiations with Ukraine.
Rutte emphasized that although Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is open to discussions, Putin has so far refused to sit at the negotiating table. While Ukraine continues to achieve victories on the battlefield, Russia is intensifying its attacks, including a recent strike on Kyiv that resulted in the deaths of 22 people. Rutte condemned the attacks and called on allies to support Ukraine with defense equipment. Additionally, Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia prefers a diplomatic solution, and the American president expressed optimism that Putin might want to end the conflict.
Zelensky intends to discuss air defense supplies and strategies to persuade Putin to negotiate with Donald Trump.
