The strategic missile-carrying submarines of the Russian Federation are on maximum combat alert, according to statements by Admiral Aleksandr Moiseev, on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the submarine fleet's creation.
Moiseev emphasized the importance of the nuclear submarines from the Borei project, which will remain operational until the middle of the century, having considerable modernization potential. Currently, Russia has eight Borei submarines, and shipyards are constructing two new upgraded units. Additionally, the third-generation multifunctional submarine fleet will be renewed with the new Yasen/YasenM project, which will include the most modern missile systems. Moiseev highlighted the crucial role of these forces in strategic deterrence and ensuring global security, emphasizing that submarine troops represent the 'elite of the Russian navy.'
