In November 2025, Russian troops advanced by 701 square kilometers in Ukraine, marking the second largest advance after that of November 2024. Currently, Russia controls 19.3% of Ukrainian territory, having a total of 5,400 square kilometers occupied since the beginning of the year, nearly 2,000 square kilometers more than in the same period last year. Although the advance has continued, it has slowed down in the Donetsk province, where Russia controls 81% of the territory and aims to conquer the city of Pokrovsk.

The greatest progress has been recorded in Zaporozhie, with 272 square kilometers occupied, and in Dnipropetrovsk, where Russia has extended the front line. The war, which began in February 2022, continues to be a war of attrition, with heavy losses on both sides. In this context, Russian President Vladimir Putin has requested recognition of Russian sovereignty over Donbas and Crimea, threatening Ukraine with further losses if it does not withdraw from the claimed territories.
