Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov stated that Russia stands in solidarity with Cuba and will provide material assistance, mentioning that other friendly countries, including those from the BRICS forum, are contributing to the support of Havana. Ryabkov accused the United States of exerting intense pressure on the Cuban regime, which led Russia and Canada to repatriate thousands of tourists.
He criticized Washington's actions, stating that they violate international law. In the context of threats from American President Donald Trump to impose tariffs, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov emphasized that Russia does not want to escalate the conflict.
Additionally, sources from the Russian Embassy in Havana indicated immediate deliveries of food and petroleum products as humanitarian aid, thus continuing support for the Cuban regime. Russia warned that it will not allow a situation similar to that in Venezuela.
