In a press conference held in Maputo, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that Russia no longer trusts the West regarding finding a negotiated solution to the conflict in Ukraine.

Lavrov emphasized that the West's calls for negotiations are hypocritical, mentioning that agreed solutions in the past, in 2014, 2015, and 2019, were canceled by the West. He also mentioned a negotiated solution from 2022 between Russia and Ukraine, which was undermined by the West.

Lavrov stated that the reserves of good faith and hope have been completely exhausted. Russia thanked Mozambique for its balanced position within the UN, refusing to support the West's plans related to Ukraine.
