Vienna becomes the center of Russian espionage in Europe: satellite antennas on Russian properties and the "Russencity" complex on the Danube facilitate the interception of government and military communications.

Russia has intensified its espionage operations in Vienna, taking advantage of Austria's neutral status and legislative gaps. Approximately 500 Russian diplomats are in Austria, of which one third are conducting intelligence activities. In the last two years, numerous satellite antennas have appeared on buildings owned by the Russian state, used for intercepting NATO's governmental and military communications.

A European diplomat emphasized the importance of Vienna as an operational center for Russia in Europe. Additionally, a Russian complex on the banks of the Danube, known as 'Russencity', facilitates access to satellite communications. Although Austrian legislation limits the prosecution of espionage, Austrian authorities are collaborating with European partners to share information about Russia's suspicious activities.
