The plant in Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan, is expanding with the construction of large production buildings, including a 19,000-square-meter one. This is the only facility in Russia capable of replacing strategic bombers damaged in Ukrainian attacks. In 2024, deliveries of Tu-160M2 bombers have been limited, and the plant also produces civilian aircraft such as the Tu-204. Recently, Ukrainian drones have damaged about 40 Russian planes, according to Western estimates, and Russia's Foreign Ministry disputes this.
