Vladislav Maslennikov, the director of the Department for European Issues within the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that it is not too early to assert that the dialogue between Russia and the European Union is lost forever. He emphasized that the current European Commission has a limited mandate and that a new commission will be elected in the future, which could change the relations between the two parties. Maslennikov expressed hope that the EU will realize that its sanctions policy against Russia negatively affects it and that, in the future, it will need to revise its approach, considering that Russia will remain an important neighbor on the Eurasian continent.
