The authorities installed by Russia in Crimea have imposed a ban on motorcycles, mopeds, ATVs, and other similar vehicles during the night, due to the noise of the engines that can be confused with that of Ukrainian drones.
The measure, announced by Governor Sergey Aksyonov, applies between 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM, starting from June 17. The purpose of this restriction is to help air defense forces more easily identify drones approaching the peninsula. The ban has been justified by claims that motorcyclists have intentionally been riding during drone attacks, and Aksyonov emphasized that the measure aims to protect the population and military objectives.
In the context of the intensification of Ukrainian attacks on Crimea, the ban joins other recent restrictions, including the suspension of train traffic during the night. Additionally, the supply of Crimea is affected by Ukrainian attacks, and traffic on the Novorossia highway has significantly decreased.
