The authorities in Guadalupe, a town in northeastern Mexico, have announced that they will use robotic dogs to assist the police during the 2026 World Cup. These four-legged robots are designed to transmit live images to law enforcement, facilitating interventions in risky situations. Mayor Hector Garcia explained that the mission of these robotic dogs is to protect the physical integrity of the officers, intervening ahead of them.
At a press conference, four such devices were presented, each costing 2.5 million pesos (approximately 120,000 euros). The robotic dogs will be used in case of disturbances, especially in the context of the matches that will take place at the BBVA stadium, which will host four matches from the tournament. This initiative is part of a broader program to modernize public safety in the town.
