On Wednesday, electricity supply was restored in the southwest of Berlin after an arson attack on a power station caused a major power outage, affecting approximately 45,000 households and over 2,000 companies. The Mayor of Berlin, Kai Wegner, stated that the restoration of power was a complex process, considering that the incident occurred under freezing temperatures.

The far-left activist group 'Vulcan' claimed responsibility for the attack, which led to the destruction of a cable channel. The power outage had severe effects, disrupting mobile phone connections and train traffic. Following this incident, politicians called for additional investments to protect infrastructure, given the increasing risks of attacks from leftist militants, according to warnings from the internal intelligence agency.
