Several countries have expressed concerns regarding regional stability following the airstrikes carried out by the American military and the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, along with his wife, Cilia Flores. They are set to be brought before justice in New York, being accused of 'narcoterrorism'. The Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized, in a statement, the concern over any attempt at external control over Venezuela's natural resources. In this context, American President Donald Trump stated that he will allow American oil companies to exploit Venezuela's oil resources, which hold 17% of the world's oil reserves, asserting that the U.S. will lead the country to a safe and appropriate transition.
