This is the largest record ever registered in a single day in the history of railway transport in China, marking an increase of nearly 8% compared to the same day last year. For the following day (October 2), authorities estimate a traffic of over 19 million passengers. Also, in the Yangtze River delta region (which includes major cities like Shanghai), over 4 million passengers are expected, an increase of over 10% compared to last year.
