<p>The Iran Human Rights Organization has recorded a record number of executions of women in Iran in 2024. The Talion Law, known as 'Qisas', which applies in Iran, stipulates the death penalty for crimes, and IHR claims that many of the women executed were victims of domestic violence or sexual abuse. The executions of women show the brutality of capital punishment and highlight gender inequalities in the Iranian justice system.
