DIICOT prosecutors, together with police officers from Mehedinți, carried out a search as part of an international investigation at the request of the Belgian authorities. The criminal group, consisting of Romanian citizens, is accused of stealing 69 racing and breeding pigeons, with an estimated damage of €2.2 million. Following the search, evidence was seized and the stolen pigeons were recovered and returned to the Belgian authorities. The action took place in the context of international cooperation to fight organized crime.
