Rumen Radev, the Prime Minister of Bulgaria, had a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Brussels, where they discussed the nuclear power plant in Belene.

Zelensky proposed the acquisition of reactors from Belene, while Radev suggested jointly building the plant with European funds and supplying electricity through Romania. The project, started in the 1980s, was canceled after expenditures of over 600 million dollars. Radev emphasized that Bulgaria will not cancel the agreement with Ukraine, given that it does not contain concrete commitments. The agreement provides for cooperation in the field of Bulgarian minority rights, combating organized crime, and ensuring nuclear safety in Ukraine.

Radev stated that Bulgaria will continue to analyze support possibilities without assuming firm commitments.
