Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, will only take place after a sustainable peace agreement is established between Ukraine and Russia.
This statement was made after a meeting with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, in which Putin mentioned that the discussion could take place in a third country, but on the condition that an agreement is reached beforehand. He expressed the opinion that the conflict in Ukraine is nearing its end and indicated that he prefers the negotiations to be mediated by former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroder.
Additionally, Putin emphasized the importance of ending the war in Iran, warning that its continuation would affect the whole world.
Regarding the expansion of the European Union, he suggested that Armenia should hold a referendum to decide on joining the community bloc.
