In his congratulatory message published on the Kremlin's website, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized the importance of signing the Declaration of Independence of the United States, considering it a crucial moment in world history. He recalled Russia's unconditional support for American colonists in their fight against British domination and highlighted the common history of relations between the two countries.

Putin avoided mentioning the Cold War, focusing instead on the collaboration between Russia and the USA during the two world wars and their role in establishing the modern world order. The Russian president expressed hope for the development of constructive and mutually beneficial relations, wishing health and prosperity to both Donald Trump and American citizens, in the context of deteriorating relations between Moscow and Washington in recent times.
