In Australia, public transport will be free in certain states in response to the fuel crisis, according to an announcement made by Nexta. The state of Victoria will eliminate fares for the entire month of April, while Tasmania will offer free transport until the end of June. Other states, such as New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, and Western Australia, have refused to implement this measure, with the transport minister of New South Wales stating that the situation will last more than a month.
In contrast, these states are adopting various forms of support, including subsidies and discounts for seniors and students, as well as lower fares for all travelers, to help the population in the context of rising fuel prices.
