On Sunday, thousands of activists from Serbia participated in protests in Novi Pazar, supporting students who are contesting the government's pressure on state universities. This demonstration is part of a larger movement against political intervention in higher education, triggered by the collapse of a roof at a train station in Novi Sad, resulting in 16 deaths.

Students from Novi Pazar, who became known for their participation in the protests in Novi Sad, are now facing reprisals, including the revocation of student status for absentees and the dismissal of some professors. The protesters are demanding the resignation of the university's board of administration and the election of a new rector. Dzenana Ahmetovic, one of the protesters, emphasized that the fight for the university affects all Serbs. During the protest, participants held a moment of silence for the victims of the collapse and accused the political leadership of corruption and nepotism, allegations that President Aleksandar Vucic denies.
