On Sunday morning, thousands of protesters gathered in front of the US embassy in Madrid to protest against the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, considered an "imperialist aggression" by the organizers.
The protesters displayed critical banners against American President Donald Trump, accusing him of consuming oil from Venezuela and labeling him as an "aggressor." Maduro's capture occurred following an American military operation, which included airstrikes on Caracas.
Maduro is now in a prison in New York, accused of "narcoterrorism." Donald Trump stated that the US will lead the transition in Venezuela and will exploit the country's oil reserves. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez condemned the intervention as a violation of international law, emphasizing the need for a peaceful transition through dialogue. Sanchez's criticisms were reiterated in a letter addressed to members of the Socialist Party, highlighting concerns about regional instability.
