A widespread blackout has hit Kenya and parts of Tanzania, affecting tens of millions of people. The cause has not yet been announced.

The blackout occurred in most of Kenya and partly in Tanzania, affecting tens of millions of consumers and significantly reducing internet connectivity. The blackout began in Kenya at 1.28am local time, and emergency crews were able to restart installations after six hours.
