Meeting at the Vatican, US Vice President JD Vance discussed with Pope Leo XIV important bilateral relations and respect for humanitarian law in conflict zones. This took place a day after the pontificate's inaugural Mass, which Vance attended with other political leaders. Although the pope has voiced criticism of the Trump administration, Vance said the US is proud of the new pope and that prayers accompany their mission.
