Pope Leo XIV officially closed the Year of the Holy Catholic through the ceremony at St. Peter's Basilica, held on January 6, Epiphany, attended by thousands of believers. This event symbolizes the end of a period dedicated to forgiveness and spiritual reflection, marked by the tradition of passing through the Holy Gate. The Holy Year began on December 24, 2024, under Pope Francis, and continued after his death, a rare case in the history of the Vatican. Pope Leo XIV emphasized in his message the importance of solidarity and respect for the vulnerable, criticizing the excesses of consumer society. After the ceremony, he officiated the Epiphany Mass, and the Vatican announced that the next Holy Year will take place in 2033, marking two millennia since the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
