In his first Christmas liturgy held at St. Peter's Basilica, Pope Leo XIV made a strong appeal for peace, compassion, and respect for human dignity, emphasizing the connection between faith and respect for one another. With thousands of faithful present, he stated that "there is no room for God if there is no room for people," quoting Pope Benedict XVI. The Pope described Christmas as a "celebration of hope" and warned against the risks of an economy that treats people as commodities. He also called for an end to armed conflicts, mentioning the war in Ukraine and expressing his regret over Russia's refusal to accept a Christmas truce. On Christmas Day, the Pope will deliver the traditional "Urbi et Orbi" message from St. Peter's Square, expecting massive participation from the faithful.
