Pope Francis will visit Corsica on December 15, 2024, the first visit of a pope to the island.

The visit will consist of a conference on popular religiosity in the Mediterranean region, held in the island's capital Ajaccio. Although not a full state visit, Corsica has a strong religious significance, with the majority of its inhabitants Catholic. Pope Francis declined an invitation to attend the reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, preferring to hold a similar ceremony in the Vatican.
