Poland's presidential elections are approaching, with the first round scheduled for May 18, and the electoral commission has announced that 17 people have filed their candidacies. Rafal Trzaskowski, the mayor of Warsaw and candidate of the Civic Coalition, is the favorite with 33-35% of the vote. Incumbent president Andrzej Duda, a conservative, is blocking reforms by the pro-European government. Two eurosceptics, Karol Nawrocki and Slawomir Mentzen, are vying for second place. Duda will finish his two terms in August.
