The deal to buy 180 South Korean K2 tanks, worth more than €6bn, is part of Poland's strategy to strengthen its defense, influenced by the war in Ukraine and the crisis with Belarus. Poland will spend 4.7% of its GDP on defense and will have 1,100 tanks, surpassing the total of 950 tanks of France, Britain, Germany and Italy. Deputy Prime Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz underlined the importance of this agreement for security and the national armaments industry.
