The agreement includes multiple Chunmoo launchers and three types of missile systems, such as CGR-080, CTM-MR, and CTM-290, along with operational and training support. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in the second half of 2027. Estonia's Minister of Defense, Hanno Pevkur, emphasized the importance of these launchers for the country's military capability, noting that the acquisition comes in the context of developing deep strike capability, which began with the purchase of HIMARS systems from the USA.
Estonia, having a border with Russia, considers the invasion of Ukraine a direct threat to its security, which is why it is increasing its defense spending.
