The Polish Minister of Energy, Milosz Motyka, has called on the member states of the European Union to stop imports of oil from Russia until the end of 2026. This initiative comes in the context where Hungary and Slovakia continue to import Russian oil, while other European countries have halted imports following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Motyka emphasized the importance of a common decision to demonstrate Europe's determination to become independent from Russian energy resources, especially in light of recent security challenges. The European Commission will propose accelerating the phase-out of fossil fuel imports from Russia.
