Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced significant measures to reduce fuel prices in Poland, in the context of their increase caused by the Gulf conflict. The VAT on fuels will be reduced from 23% to 8%, and excise duties will be adjusted to the minimum level allowed by European Union regulations.
In addition, the government will introduce maximum retail prices, estimating a decrease in prices of up to 1.20 zlotys (0.28 euros) per liter. Excise duties will be set at 0.068 euros per liter for gasoline and 0.066 euros for diesel. Tusk specified that Parliament will adopt the necessary legislation on Friday, and it will be sent to the president for promulgation on the same day.
