Poland's defense minister has announced the signing of a $3.8 billion contract to modernize its fleet of F-16 fighter jets. Although the F-16C/D Block 52+ F-16C/D Block 52+ jets, purchased between 2006 and 2008, have good capabilities, they become insufficient after 20 years. Poland, now Europe's biggest buyer of US weapons, is thus strengthening its position in the face of threats from Russia.
