Polish Interior Minister Marcin Kierwinski has announced the extension of border controls with Germany, originally scheduled to expire on August 5. The controls were introduced on July 7 in response to German checks aimed at curbing illegal migration. Prime Minister Donald Tusk has stressed that the lifting of the controls depends on changes in German policy. Germany has intensified border controls and authorized the return of asylum seekers.
