Pfizer won the auction for the acquisition of Metsera, with a bid of 10 billion dollars, thus ending the competition with Novo Nordisk.

The anti-obesity drug manufacturer Metsera has announced that it has accepted a $10 billion acquisition offer from Pfizer, concluding an intense competition with Danish rival Novo Nordisk. Pfizer initiated the acquisition in September, but Novo intervened with an unsolicited offer, sparking a strategic battle for a valuable asset in the obesity drug market. Pfizer will pay $86.25 per share, including a premium of 3.69% over the closing price.

Novo Nordisk has announced that it will not make a higher offer, citing legal and regulatory risks associated with the acquisition. Metsera's shares rose by nearly 60% in the last week, and Pfizer expects to finalize the merger after the shareholders' meeting on November 13. This acquisition is part of Pfizer's efforts to penetrate an expanding market, following previous failures in developing weight loss drugs.
