Péter Szijjártó, the former foreign minister of Hungary, announced on Facebook that he has submitted his resignation as a parliament member, citing an offer to take an international position at BYD, a Chinese electric vehicle company. Although he entered Parliament in 2002 and held various positions, including spokesperson for Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Szijjártó has been less present in the last parliamentary sessions, being the second most absent deputy.

Currently, he continues to work as the head of the external relations and new business development department at BYD. As a minister, Szijjártó was a supporter of Chinese electric vehicles and advocated for closer cooperation between the European Union and China, highlighting the economic benefits of this collaboration.
