The Prime Minister of Hungary, Peter Magyar, has launched a reform campaign called 'Operation Purifying Fire', aimed at freeing the country from the political and economic captivity imposed by former Prime Minister Viktor Orban. In a speech in Parliament, Magyar proposed the adoption of a new Constitution, the establishment of an anti-corruption office, and the dismissal of President Tamas Sulyok. These measures come after 16 years of Fidesz governance, accused of systemic corruption and closeness to Russia.

The Tisza Party, led by Magyar, faces major challenges in dismantling the corruption network and removing Orban's allies. The reforms are essential for unlocking EU funds of 16.4 billion euros, frozen due to issues related to the rule of law. Magyar has promised that the new anti-corruption office will be led by top experts, and Parliament has already adopted measures that limit the terms of politicians and provide for the dismissal of the president. These reforms are seen as a crucial step towards restoring the rule of law in Hungary.
