Pete Hegseth, the American Secretary of Defense, warned Cuba not to attempt to acquire weapons that could threaten the United States, during a visit to the military base in Guantanamo Bay.

This statement comes in the context of Washington imposing severe sanctions and an oil blockade on Cuba. Hegseth emphasized that such an action could lead to a confrontation that Cuba would not be able to withstand. He also mentioned that Cuba's future depends on its relations with the United States.

Recently, Cuba has been accused of acquiring military drones from Russia and Iran, with plans to use them against the Guantanamo base and American military ships. Havana has rejected these accusations, considering them unfounded.

Hegseth made this visit as part of a series of meetings with American officials in the region, highlighting the importance of national security in the context of tensions with Cuba.
