The Peruvian Parliament voted on Tuesday to impeach interim President José Jeri, who is the subject of two investigations for alleged influence peddling, ahead of the presidential elections scheduled for April 12.
Jose Jeri, at the age of 39, took office as interim president in October 2025, after he himself presided over the impeachment procedure of his predecessor, Dina Boluarte. He thus becomes the sixth Peruvian president in the last ten years to leave office before the end of their term, with one of the leaders resigning just a few days after taking power.
