According to the financial estimates of Deutsche Rentenversicherung Bund, pensions in Germany could increase by 4.4% starting from July 1, 2027, after a 4.24% increase applied in 2026. This increase would affect approximately 21.5 million retirees, including Romanians, and could mean additional amounts of several tens of euros per month.

For example, a gross pension of 1,000 euros would increase by 44 euros, while one of 2,000 euros would increase by 88 euros. The final increase will be confirmed in the spring of 2027, based on the evolution of salaries.

Pensions are linked to salaries, and Germany has maintained a minimum threshold of 48% for pensions until 2031. Estimates for the following years indicate smaller increases, of 2.3% in 2028 and 2.8% in 2029. The increase is applied automatically, without requests from retirees.
