The Provincial Court of Valladolid has imposed prison sentences and fines on five individuals who racially insulted Brazilian footballer Vinicius Jr. during the December 2022 match. They received one year in prison, suspended on condition that they commit no further offenses and do not attend matches for three years. The ruling is seen as an important step in the fight against racism in sport in Spain, backed by LaLiga and underlining that intolerance is not acceptable in football.
