On the occasion of the 105th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), an official statistic revealed that by the end of 2025, the CCP had 101.28 million members, 1% more than in the previous year. This means that only 7% of the total population of 1.41 billion Chinese are party members.
Of the total members, 31.91 million are women, and 7.87 million belong to ethnic minorities. Almost 60% of members have higher education, and most are aged 61 or older. In 2025, the CCP received 2.08 million new members, the majority of whom are young.
Under the leadership of Xi Jinping, the CCP has consolidated power, removing the term limit for the presidency and centralizing control over state institutions. The CCP anniversary takes place in a challenging economic context and international tensions, including in relation to Taiwan.
