The spokesperson of the Ministry of Defense of Thailand, Surasant Kongsiri, stated that over 400,000 people have been moved to safe shelters in seven provinces due to an imminent threat to their safety. In Cambodia, 101,229 people have been evacuated to safe shelters and to their relatives in five provinces.

The conflict has been generated by disputes related to the colonial demarcation of the 800 km border and competing claims over historical temples. Recent clashes are the deadliest since the fighting in July, which resulted in the deaths of dozens of people and the displacement of approximately 300,000 individuals. Both parties accuse each other of instigating the resumption of violence.
