Viktor Orban, the Prime Minister of Hungary, stated that Ukraine is requesting 800 billion dollars for the funding of its operations and reconstruction, an amount he considers unacceptable for the member states of the European Union. He claims that this request puts pressure on the "Brussels elite" to unblock frozen Russian assets and to restructure the EU's multiannual budget. Orban used harsh language, stating that Brussels is "desperate" to find financial resources, which could lead to a redistribution of funds to the detriment of member states. He also criticized the opposition in Hungary, accusing the MEPs of the Tisza party of voting for unconditional financial support for Ukraine, suggesting that this could have negative financial implications for voters.
