Operation Pandora, conducted under the coordination of Europol and the Spanish Civil Guard, involved law enforcement from 23 countries and led to the recovery of some 38,000 cultural artifacts, including artworks and coins, and the arrest of 80 suspects. Among the artifacts recovered were Byzantine icons and Roman coins, and authorities also seized tools used for illegal excavations. Investigations continue and further arrests are possible.
