A nationwide state of emergency has been declared to coordinate the resources of institutions involved in fighting forest fires. Around 1,000 people, including volunteers, are battling nine active fires caused by extreme heat and strong winds. One man has recently died from the fires and temperatures in the region have soared above 40 degrees Celsius, putting pressure on emergency crews.
